In accordance to Coldplay's official site, Paradise ringtone was not originally chart qualified in the United kingdom, on the grounds that it was available on iTunes as an “instant grat” (immediate obtain) with the album. The tune became eligible to chart in the United kingdom on 30th Oct soon after the album's launch, coming into the Uk Singles Chart at #14.

Coldplay initially introduced that the single's music video would be directed by Buzz Williams (who previously directed the number one version of the “Viva la Vida” new music video clip) but that model was scrapped upon shooting and the band determined alternatively to report a new edition directed by prolonged-time collaborator Mat Whitecross. The video shifts to the band actively playing a live display at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg just before returning to the desert exactly where they operate in the direction of the digital camera. The audio video clip was shot on location in London, Cape Town, the Klein Karoo in the Western Cape and Johannesburg.
